Classes Offered

Visual Arts offers 3 Tracks:
           Track 1: Fine Arts Credit
           Track 2: Visual Arts Interest
           Track 3: a) AP Studio
                          b) AP Photography

Track 1: By state law all students must earn 1 fine arts credit to graduate.  You can receive this credit by taking one of 3 courses offered at SHHS. 

          Visual Art 1 (art 1)           Theater Arts 1 (drama 1)          Band
 
Track 2:  Track 2 is open to any student that has an interest in visual arts and would like to continue in some or perhaps focus in visual arts without going into Advance Placement courses. To focus in Visual Arts you will need Visual Arts 1 and the course listed below.
          
           Art 2 - 1 credit (lamb)               Pre-AP - 1 credit (lamb)
 
    2d design - .5 credit (Drew)           Intro to Photography - .5 credit (Drew)     
Track 3: Track 3 is open to any student that is interested in taking Advanced Placement classes their senior year.  There are 4 AP courses offered in Visual arts - 2-D, 3-D, Drawing, (also known as AP art and Design) and Photography. AP photography is taught by Mr. Drew and 2-d and drawing classes are taught by Ms. Bolen. If you have any questions about scheduling please contact me at jlamb@mauryk12.org
 
Recommended course schedule:
     
AP Art and design 
      9th grade - Art 1 with recommendation * contact Ms. Bolen for info.
      10th grade - Art 1 (if needed) and Art 2
      11th grade - Pre-AP (mandatory course for AP)
      12th grade - AP art and design

AP photography
      10th grade - Art 1
      11th grade - Intro to photography
      12th grade - AP photography
